"CADENZA" 2018

2222 - 4331 - Timp+3 - Hrp - Pno/Cel - Str

Work Introduction

Cadenza was inspired by the architectural design of the Riverside Church’s Tower in Manhattan, where the piece was premiered by Manhattan School of Music Composers’ Orchestra. Cadenza constantly looks for a state of resolution, or more concrete a state of dissolution. On the other hand, the piece presents sonorities that emulate the characteristics of vocal sounds, specifically the medieval concept of the Lament. The piece is dedicated to Reiko Fueting.
